11TH PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATION OF BUILDING OFFICIALS (PABO)

The Bangsamoro Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) represented by OIC-Chief Economic Development Specialist Atty. Maria Mikkoh R. Ortuoste-Samba of the Operations Division, together with Engineer Airsad R. Olomodin and Mohammad Khalid D. Naga of the Engineering Unit, attended the 11th Philippine Association of Building Officials (PABO) Convention on April 16-17, 2024, in General Santos City.

This 2-day convention highlighted the election of PABO National Officers and focused on the legal responsibilities of Building Officials in upholding building safety standards. The convention highlighted key aspects such as code compliance, ethical standards, and the need for ongoing education to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. Participants engaged in discussions on the ethical considerations of enforcing building codes impartially and the legal ramifications of non-compliance.

The convention emphasized the paramount importance of building safety in safeguarding public welfare, mitigating risks, and fostering collaborative efforts across agencies and stakeholders. Through insightful sessions, case studies, and technological innovations showcased, the final day reinforced the commitment to promoting a culture of safety and excellence in the construction industry.
