1ST QUARTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING
 
The Bangsamoro Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) successfully conducted its 1ST Quarter Board of Directors (BOD) Meeting, yesterday, March 21, 2024, at Surya Hall 2, Mall of Alnor, Cotabato City
 
BEZA-BOD Chairperson Minister Abuamri A. Taddik of the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT), together with MTIT Deputy Minister and BEZA Executive Director Atty. Sukarno A. Abas, presided over the meeting, duly attended by its members.
 
In attendance are Minister Akmad A. Brahim of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Chief Rohanisa Rashid, representing BPDA Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, Atty. Siitie Nadia Karim, representing Minister Arch’t Eduard U. Guerra of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), Atty. Sandy B. Sendad, representing Minister Ubaida Pacasem of the Ministry of Finance, Budget, and Management (MFBM), Polloc Freeport and Ecozone (PFEZ) key personnel headed by Administrator Salipada B. Alongan, and BEZA personnel and staff.
 
The highlighted agenda during the meeting are the approval of the application of the ecozone locator Mindanao Marine Life Development Corporation, the proposed BEZA schedule of fees, the Memorandum of Cooperation between BEZA and JnJ, the proposed BEZA organizational structure; endorsement of the BEZA Bill to the BARMM Office of the Cabinet Secretary, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BEZA and Philippine Naval Task Group Central, the creation of the BEZA Inspection and Acceptance Team, and the BEZA and PFEZ Proposed Budget for FY 2025.
 
The BEZA-BOD adopted a total of seven (7) proposed resolutions, including the approval of the organizational structure of BEZA, the adoption of the revision or proposed amendment of the memorandum of understanding between BEZA and the Philippine Marines Corps, the approval of the recommendation of the BEZA Bill to be included as a priority on Tier II of the Cabinet Secretary, and the approval of the application of Mindanao Marine Life Development Corporation as an ecozone enterprise inside PFEZ.
 
Meanwhile, the PFEZ Cashier III, Khalid Al-Walid B. Mampen, gave an update on PFEZ Revenue Collection and Remittance from the last quarter of 2023 up to the present date.
 
Wrapping up the above-mentioned board meeting is the signing of the MoU between BEZA and the Philippine Coast Guard, signifying the full pledge of collaboration between the two agencies.
