BEZA Executive Director Atty. Sukarno A. Abas and Chief of Planning and Policy Division Mohaliden M. Mohammad attended the Mindanao Ecozones and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Offices (LEDIPOs) Convergence, held in Davao City on October 12, 2023.

Said activity was facilitated by Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) aiming to gather the administrators of the existing economic zones in Mindanao with investment opportunities, as well as the LEDIPOs in the Local Government Units (LGUs) where the ecozones are located.

Atty. Abdullah Adel-Khan Alug, Administrator of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), presented the Ecozone Development highlighting the application process for new ecozones, best practices, registration process, and outbound missions. His presentation provided the provincial/city LEDIPOs an orientation on how the Ecozone developer can work in the promotion of the economic zones in Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the activity became the venue for the Ecozones and LEDIPOs to identify areas of complementation and explore possible creation of a convergence mechanism for investment promotion and investor facilitation initiatives. This was also an opportunity for BEZA-BARMM to enhance its promotion, attracting and supporting investors in its ecozones, and freeports essential in accelerating and bolstering the economic growth of the region.
