The Bangsamoro Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) conducted a 3-day training entitled “Gender and Development: Training Workshop on Gender Development and Application on Gender Analysis Tools” at Polloc Freeport and Ecozone, Parang, Maguindanao.
The said training was based on Republic Act 9710, otherwise known as “The Magna Carta of Women.” The Magna Carta for Women is a comprehensive women’s human rights law that seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling, and promoting the rights of Filipino women, especially those in marginalized sectors. The Policy Act seeks to achieve gender equality as a fundamental value that should be reflected in development choices and contends that women are active agents of development, Not just passive recipients of development.
The said training focuses on gender mainstreaming and aims to educate the participants on the important role of both men and women in society.
The 3-day GAD training was participated by the employees of Polloc Freeport and Ecozone. And it was graced by Ms. Rohaniya M. Sumail and Ma’am Anisa Taha Arab from Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) as resource speakers.
